Client Services – Services for Buyers – Home Buyer’s Club
Home Buyer’s Club is one of the most popular programs offered by Mission of Peace National Corporation. It is open to anyone planning to buy a home, in the process of buying a home, as well as renters who want to learn about, finance, credit, budgets, savings and legal issues pertaining to housing and lending.
The sessions are a constant blend of formal and informal learning. There are seminars and presentations from a variety of industry professionals involved in the many facets of real estate and financial services, including; real estate
agents, lenders, bankers, appraisers, insurance agents, property inspectors and credit counselors. At the Home Buyer’s Club, you’ll learn to read and interpret financial documents, understand the legal obligations of home ownership and rentals, as well as get hands-on practical knowledge about home ownership, costs of repairs, how to select a contractor, and even the basics of home repair.
These informal classes typically allow time for free discussion, so you can ask questions, share advice, and support each other through the purchase process. Those who attend regularly gain a valuable supportive network of like-minded friends and can make progress on their financial goals with the trained guidance of MOPNC counselors.
During each meeting, there is also time to meet one-on-one with counselors and guests, to go over budgets, talk about changes that might affect your credit score, or to update and review documents.
Home Buyer’s Club has no set beginning or ending date — the curriculum circulates through all aspects of home purchasing, ownership and credit. You may attend the classes for as many weeks or months as you like. Many people attend classes for up to a year or more, learning new information and improving their financial literacy with each visit.
Classes in Flint are held on the first and third Saturday of the month. Click here for more information, or call your local MOPNC office, for times and locations.
